Movement's Final Breath: MVMT Labs Bankruptcy Confirms MOVE Is a Zombie Token

ProPrime Prediction Markets

MVMT Labs files for Chapter 11. MOVE crashes to $0.0104 — a 94% freefall from its peak. The crowd is still whispering about a comeback. I’m here to tell you: the floor is gone.

Context: The Rise and Rot of a ‘Move’ Layer-1

Movement launched in 2022 with a promise: a Move-language L1 that would rival Aptos and Sui. The community bought the hype — MOVE hit $1.45 on Binance. But by mid-2026, the story had curdled. A market-making scandal dumped 66 million MOVE in minutes. The team split. Co-founder Rushi Manche was suspended amid litigation. Then came the death knell: MVMT Labs, the Delaware-registered parent, filed for Chapter 11 with $10–100M in liabilities against $100K–1M in assets. The remaining developers rebranded as Move Industries and pivoted to stablecoin payments. The original blockchain? Abandoned.

Core: The Code Doesn't Deceive

Let’s cut through the noise with data. From my years auditing Layer-1 code, I know a dead chain when I see one. Movement’s GitHub repository has seen zero commits from the core team since Q1 2026. The validators? Most have jumped ship. The TVL? Practically zero — no DeFi protocols, no active dApps. The token itself: market cap sits at $45M, ranked #473. That’s not a micro-cap; that’s a ghost token with a pulse kept alive by bots and bagholders who can’t exit.

Exchanges have delisted MOVE one by one. Binance froze its wallet after the market-making irregularities. Withdrawal windows are closing. The remaining liquidity on DEXs is so thin that a $5K buy can move the price 20%. But that’s not recovery — that’s a vacuum. "We bought the dip, but the floor kept dropping" — that’s the reality for anyone trying to catch this knife.

The bear case is brutally simple: the chain produces zero revenue. No transaction fees, no MEV, no protocol income. The only value proposition left is nostalgia for a vision that never materialized. Move Industries’ new CEO, Torab Torabi, explicitly stated the new entity “does not rely on the original Movement L1 or the MOVE token.” That’s not ambiguity — that’s a divorce filing.

Contrarian: The ‘Two Entities’ Narrative Is a Trap

The market is desperate for a narrative. Some traders are betting that the separation of Move Industries from the bankrupt estate will create a “clean” asset. They see the $0.0104 price as a floor. I see a mirage.

Here’s what the hype merchants aren’t telling you: Move Industries is a stablecoin payment company. It might use blockchain technology, but it has zero incentive to burn MOVE or redistribute value to old token holders. In fact, the CEO’s tweet — “Movement was never just a project” — is damage control. The new entity needs regulatory clarity, not a zombie token with a history of manipulation.

Moreover, the bankruptcy court will treat MOVE holders as unsecured creditors. With assets far below liabilities, the distribution will be pennies on the dollar — if anything. The only real winners are the lawyers. "Hype is the fuel, but fundamentals are the engine" — this engine is seized.

Takeaway: Watch the Wallet, Not the Words

The upcoming weeks will test whether the market can sustain any rally. But don’t be fooled by a pump to $0.02. That’s not alpha — that’s a dead cat bounce. The real signal to watch is the bankruptcy plan (due October 13, 2026). If it doesn’t mention MOVE? Game over. If Move Industries launches its payment product without a MOVE integration? Final nail.

"I’ve seen the moon, now I’m looking for the exit" — and so should you. The ledger doesn’t lie. Movement is a cautionary tale of hype exceeding execution, insider deals, and a community left holding the bag. Chasing the alpha before the liquidity dries up might work in a bull market. But this isn’t a bull — it’s a burial.

Don’t mistake a corpse for a diamond in the rough.
